Age 53! I’ve been riding bicycles since forever. Living in Marin County, the birth place to mountain bikes, I was out there on the fire roads on modified Schwinns with drum brakes. Bought my first real man bike from the Koski brothers, my second one I handed the money into Gary Fisher’s palm, he phoned Tom Ritchey, who built the frame. I’ve been pretty competitive on mountain bikes, racing across the Northwest for the past 10 years. My wife and I have an impressive wall of ribbons and trophies to show for our hard work.
WHY I’M VOLUNTEERING:
I was asked early in the going to be Crew Chief for this effort. Without hesitating I said “yes.” Why? Because I am competitive, and these guys are my friends and I have heard about this race and how tough it is, and it sounds like a challenge. I like the tough stuff. And believe me; this is going to be a tough race! I can’t wait to get into it and see what comes up.
MY FAVORITE RIDE:
I’m not a roadie, strictly a on the dirt rider. Single track trails are as good as it gets. It’s pretty hard to pin down a favorite trail, there are so many. Mineral Point in the fall, Trail 44, American Falls through the old growth cedars…….so many. And that’s just N. Idaho!
RIDE ON TOP OF MY BUCKET LIST:
I’d like to think I could manage a century mountain bike ride, but I am getting older. Creaky knees. Still I think about epic races, like the Cream Puff 100, and the Trans Rockies Stage Race. If I had the time and resources, Ride The Divide! (that’s the single track down the Continental Divide, piece of cake!).
Locked Bike, MU Campus
Most locked bikes on campus don't catch my attention, but this was hard to miss.
Gary Fisher frame, Rock Shox Reba fork, Maxxis tires, Sram X.9 rear derailer, X.7 shifters, Avid BB7 mechanical brakes, XT drivetrain, quick-release levers all around etc... Why on Earth would anyone leave a bike like this locked up in a secluded area on a college campus? If you have enough $$ to afford this, then you have enough to buy a $50 beater for riding to class.
why fixed gear bike
entry level carbon road bike
kc pit bike parts
a bike bag
bike clip pedals
replace bicycle fork
